A few days ago, I sat down at my workstation at home, determined to make the best use of my 5a.m -8:30 a.m. focus time for study—don’t ask me what I’m studying or studying for.
This solemn time was interrupted by the raucous outside my window. Looking up, I saw a beautiful, tiny-sized, dual-coloured bird caught in the protective netting of my window, flapping its wings rigorously in panic.
I sat still unconsciously, imagining that any movement I made would increase the birds’ panic, but I wished and even mouthed the words, “Calm down, and you’ll find your way out.”
Surprisingly, the little bird suddenly stopped flapping its wings, looked around curiously, and then appeared to feel the gentle morning breeze and was guided by it to freedom.
I sincerely didn’t make much of it at the time, but the bird was back again this morning with the same routine, and then it hit me…
- How often do we seemingly lose track and get caught in the nettings of life?
- How frequently do we rush into panic mode and get tangled in a frenzy of uncoordinated activities?
Can we learn from my little bi-colored bird, who learned to pause, remain calm, listen, or watch for the guiding hand (physically, spiritually, or figuratively) that helps us re-center, re-calibrate, find our way back, and take flight to the freedom of success?
Hey, I’m writing this on a Friday, mimicking a Monday, but please hear this: Today, not tomorrow, is the second best time to make an impact.
Shake off the panic, own your space, and define your clear narrative. Yes!!! You can do it; I know I can, too.
